Oscar Espinosa

Oscar Espinosa is an author based in Kitchener, Ontario. He writes literary fiction and surreal short stories, and is the founder of the Practical Institute.

His first book, The Sea Still Rising, is a four-year account of living inside an invisible system with its own logic and beauty — told as literature, not a recovery story. His second, On Dreams & Other Stories, is a collection of surreal, fantastical, and dreamlike short stories that blend magic, science fiction, and existential reflection — written in a modernist style, often resembling snapshots of moments in time.

To date he has written sixty-six surreal short stories and publishes one new story every day on Substack. The full catalog lives in Storyloom, his online reading library.

In November 2026 he launches a career showcase interview podcast, featured on Radio Waterloo's WR Podcasts lineup.
